Out of laziness or forgetfulness, many of us make the mistake of leaving our phone and computer chargers plugged in without using them. Be aware that this can cause a fire, consume electricity unnecessarily and wear out equipment prematurely.

Is it safe to leave your charger plugged into an empty socket? This is an eternal question for many of us. Although it is tempting, leaving it plugged in without it charging your phone or computer is dangerous for us and for the planet. This also applies to the phone that charges all night and in the event of a storm or storm. If laziness wins out, we recommend investing in a power strip with an off button. This way, you can simply turn it off without unplugging the charger.

Fire hazard

If the connected charger is of poor quality or in poor condition (e.g. bent or damaged cable), it can cause a fire. Indeed, its internal conductors are more likely to short-circuit and overheat to provide the electricity needed to recharge the device. The transformer can then catch fire.
