Also called cerebral infarction, it represents 85% of cases of stroke. It is therefore the most common type of stroke. If the artery that supplies blood to the brain is blocked by a plaque rich in cholesterol (atherosclerosis), it is called cerebral thrombosis. If it is blocked by a blood clot, it is called cerebral embolism.
hemorrhagic attack
Hemorrhagic stroke, less common, affects 15% of cases of stroke. The main cause is the rupture of an aneurysm. According to the Ministry of Health, “tumors, hypertensive crises and various coagulation disorders can also cause cerebral hemorrhages”.
